Page 38. Annual To u Meeting ® Mashpee Monday March S, 1973
Article 23 Continued: Mr. Freeman Speaking:
You have a low number of people living here per square mile. You
will have a lame income from a small investment. It will be 20%
of the To ' s economy and when the thing is all through there (;
will be no dump just a beautiful park, a play ground. There are
over 3,000 of these plants in operation. There are thirty-five in
Great Britain. We also have a number in America. If you don't
want it we have other places®
Mrs. Amelia Miller: Would this Proposition go through and
would the acceptance of this Art .c,le be guaranteed that there
be no deal if the people were not satified?
K. O'Connell: We most certainly would not go through with
the deal unless you want it.
Further questions and answers ensued such as: Whether or not
some of the additional property that would have to be bought was
a part of Old Meeting House Grounds set aside for burial purposes.
The answers seem to be that as things stood now there did not seem
to be any great difficulty about the acqusition by purchase
or otherwise the needed extra cars but that this could all b
gone into later and it was very certain that nothing would be done
that would not be acceptable, or satisfactory.
From the floor: Why do we have to take a ten year commitment?
O'Connell : This is for ammortization of the company' s
investment. It will thke ten years for the company to get back
the money they have to invest.
Mr. Saunders : What about the degree of heat in the top soil?
Mr. Freeman: At 1400 and 170' the moleclar heats up and
you don't need any outside source of heat. The recirculation of
the water is done on a concreto pad.
There was further technical discussion 'here which was not
understood by most of the audience relating to heat, chemical
reactions, etc® , also to noise of operating the plant. Mr. Freeman
f
stated they would not accept such things as autos and things
that could not disposed of readily; however, with most trash o
other kinds there would be "flying hammers" which wotild reduce
the solid waste to small bits which again could be further reduced
