Who administers the appropriation, and is OPEB a State requirement? An updated report
would be requested for clarification purposes.
With available funds, the Town is making an effort to utilize $250,000 in reserves to fund this
category.
Article HELD
To see if the Town will vote to appropriate $ to establish a budget for the PEG Access and
Cable Related fund for fiscal year 2022, with said appropriation to be funded through the
current balance of the fund, or take any other action relating thereto.
Article HELD
To see if the Town will vote to appropriate and transfer the sum of $250,000 from revenue
available for appropriation, to be deposited into special injury leave indemnity fund, (Injured on
Duty Fund), in accordance with the provisions of General Law Chapter 41, Section 111F for the
purposes of funding injury leave compensation or medical bills incurred under said law, or take
any other action relating thereto.
Is this specifically for Police and Fire to provide a continued level of compensation when an officer
is on leave? Do the employees receive workman's compensation in addition to this fund? Why
doesn't an insurance fund take care of this? The article was HELD for additional clarification.
Under M.G.L., the Special Leave Indemnity Fund is carried over each year. The balance is
currently $549,000 with an additional $250,000 proposed to fund this program under 111F to
cover the Town's exposure obligations which is limited to Police and Fire Department employees.
This is a highly regarded fund. The Presumption Law has been modified to include cancer, an
unknown illness and it is strongly recommended the Town fund this fund. It was noted that other
employees are covered under the Workman's' Compensation Insurance program.
The article was HELD to review the mandates of 111F.
