MINUTES
SEWER COMMISSION
TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 2021
MASHPEE TOWN HALL
16 GREAT NECK ROAD NORTH
MASHPEE, MA 02649
*Virtual / Remote Meeting*
Meeting ID #889 2980 6906
Passcode: 349986
*Broadcast Live on Local Cable Channel 18*
*Public Call in Number: (508) 539-1400 extension 8585 for Public Comment*
*Streamed Live on the Town of Mashpee Website: https://www.mashpeema.gov/channel-18*
Present: Joe Lyons, Tom Fudala, Ken Dunn, Anne Malone
Public: Andrew Gottlieb, Anastasia Rudenko, Jeff Gregg, Howard Butler
4:00 p.m. — Convene Meeting
Chairman Fudala called the meeting to order at 4:17pm.
Approval of minutes: February 18, 2021
Motion: Mr. Lyons moved to approve the 2/18/21 minutes with corrections, Mr.
Dunn seconded.
Vote: 4-0 unanimous
GHD Presentation:
- Final 75% draft plans for Phase 1 WRRF and Collection system
- Final 75% plan basic costs
- Discussion of Add-Alternates / optional items
Pump station location issues
- Update on field work
Anastasia Rudenko presented the 75% Design Plan. It is anticipated the 90% Design Plan would
be submitted by July 2021 and the 100% Design Plan would be submitted by November 2021.
Ms. Malone asked what the functional impact would be of not proceeding with service area A.
Anastasia Rudenko said we would design the treatment plant to the same capacity and it would
provide capacity to be ready for the next phase of collection system.
Mr. Fudala wanted to clarify that they are including A as part of Phase 1 but the cost is beyond
what the budget can handle, so that's why it's been eliminated and the rest of it, which is the
majority of the connections, is what we're doing with the money that's available.
Mr. Gotlieb said maybe it makes sense to proceed with the solars after the buildings are up and
working with Cape Light Compact or SeaVac and see if whether we can get a significant portion
of the capital costs carried through those mechanisms as opposed to doing it now. He advised
to take these out as Add-Alternatives and we can pursue it once the buildings are up.
The Conservation Commission postponed voting on the location of the pump station on
Conservation land until further information is obtained.
