Ms. Waygan urged the Mashpee Town Officials to take bold action to continue to
protect Mashpee waters including what is going on with regards to the proposed Mashpee Commons
expansion project.
Ms. Waygan applauded Selectman Carol A. Sherman for sharing information received from the Cape Cod
Commission regarding Mashpee Commons and recommended the information be posted on the Town's
website for all to access. In reading the materials Ms. Waygan indicated the Cape Cod Commission seems to
be lingering on the envirommental review process including the level of review for the traffic study. In
concern there is inconsistency with what has been proposed by the Planning Board. This includes a gross
mismatch of square footage, commercial space and the numbers of rental units. The traffic study is also
significantly smaller and does not seem to study as many traffic actions. At the June 20, 2021 meeting Ms.
Waygan as a Planning Board member acted as a strong proponent of securing consultants especially a traffic
engineer and an environmental engineer to protect the Town of Mashpee.
