6 <br /> Correspondence was received from Elana Doyle and Catherine Gallagher, respective Chairs of the <br /> Mashpee Republican and Democratic Committee advocating for the need for safety enhancements <br /> and a reduced speed limit in sections of Mashpee and Falmouth. <br /> In particular there is concern regarding Route 151, a highly travelled road. Numerous accidents and <br /> fatalities have occurred along Route 151 at various intersections. Contributing factors include a <br /> combination of high-volume traffic, higher speed limits and the lack of directional lighting and <br /> signage. <br /> Portions of Route 151 lie under the jurisdiction of the Town of Mashpee. The Select Board was <br /> requested to advocate for approvals required from the MassDOT to implement new designs and <br /> added safety measures as well as consider reducing speed limits and secure available funds to <br /> achieve adequate safety measures. <br /> The Select Board in high regard to remedy this concern agreed to obtain additional information in <br /> terms of options and would review this matter as a future agenda topic of discussion. This <br /> includes a preliminary study of conditions and speed operations. It was reported the Cape Cod <br /> Commission may have been engaged in a traffic study of the corridor. Joint discussions would <br /> also involve the Town of Falmouth. The Route 151 corridor in the Town of Mashpee is also <br /> planned for realignment. <br /> Communication from Southport: <br /> Correspondence was recently received from the Southport Community regarding their interest in <br /> Town Boards, Committees and Commissions. It is the intent of Southport to form a Government <br /> Committee. Selectman John J.
