MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> June 16, 2021 7:00 P.M. <br /> Waquoit Room, Mashpee Town Hall <br /> PRESENT: Frank Gallello,Virginia Scharfenberg, Mohamad Fand, Lynn Harris <br /> CALL TO ORDER Chairwoman Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM <br /> Meeting Minutes—none. No quorum on May <br /> COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE <br /> REPORTS <br /> • 2021 garden season parking pass signs have been distributed. <br /> • Compost bins being used fairly well; instructional signs to be nailed to bins. <br /> • Black Earth Compost household pick-up option in Mashpee: Virginia awaits response from <br /> Catherine Laurent about entering discussions with the president of the company and staff <br /> marketing person. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> • Since the proposed change to MCGAC Bylaws is so minimal, it appears that Virginia can just <br /> send updated version with correct size of beds to Terrie Cook to insert on our web site for <br /> US. <br /> • Expansion possibilities for 2022 with current funds &/or Community Preservation Committee <br /> proposal,with submittal by November 1,2021 deadline for Spring 2022 Town Meeting. The <br /> addition of plants outside the garden,on the inside of split rail fencing,can still be done this year <br /> with available funds. Lynn will reassess her original design and create another one. <br /> • The Get Growing kick-off event of 4/24/21 with gardeners at the Community Garden was very <br /> successful,and we will be hosting others this season. Virginia said she would host an informal <br /> gathering the next Saturday, sending out an email invitation. Ideally,we should have at least 3 <br /> gatherings this summer,one of which is a"share your vegetables"event. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> MCGAC Board of Directors and Officers—two positions to fill <br /> Terms that end this June 30, 2021: <br /> --Virginia Scharfenberg announced that she would not be running for chair of MCGAC <br /> when her term ends,for family medical reasons. She will join the Board again for 3 years. <br /> --Stephanie Simpson was never active with the Board and will not be running. This 3-year <br /> term will need to be filled now. <br /> --Frank Gallellos's 1-year term as a new Board member will be over, and he has agreed to <br /> serve a new 3-year term. <br /> 1 <br />
