p,eTown
........................................................ ......... --------
.....
 1 Great.Neck Road North
OLE
Mash ►ee, Massachusetts 02649
BOARD OF HEALTH -- PUBLIC SESSIO
a hpee Town Hall -- Popponesset Meeting Room
Minutes of the Meeting of February 4, 2021
Board Members Present: Member Absent: Also Present:
Brian Baumgaertel,Chair Glen Harrington, Health Agent
Veronica warden,Vice-Chair Caitlin Cantella,Assistant Health Agent
Ernest Virgilio, Clerk
Chair Brian Baumgaertel called the meeting to order at 7:03 P11/M, and stated for the record that Board
members were participating remotely.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Review of Compliance -- 545 Cotuit Road. Mr. Harrington commented that the office had not
received a request for continuance from the owner of this property. The original order letter was
hand-delivered on December 4,2020,requiring the basement bedrooms to be,addressed and the
septic fixed within 30 days. That 30 days ended on January 4, 2020, but the owner has kept in
contact and things are moving forward with respect to the septic upgrade. The hope is that
Barnstable County will come through with approval of the loan application to do the plumbing
work. An ejector pump is proposed for the basement bathroom, which will allow the entire
system to be within three feet of grade. In the field, Health Agents went over all the design
features, including the Zabel filter and general siting for the primary and reserve sail absorption
system. It should be a relatively smooth review and approval process. Mr. Harrington stated that
he is was waiting for an update on the plumber and/or contractors that the owner mentioned in
her email of January 7th. Board members agreed that it sounded life progress had been made.
There being no further comments or discussion, Ernest Virgilio moved to continue the matter of
545 Cotuit Road to the next scheduled meeting. Motion seconded by Veronica warden. Roll call
vote: Ernest Virgilio (yes)-Veronica warden (yes); Brian Baumgaertel (yes). VOTE: Unanimous
(3-0).
2. Review of Compliance—97 Sunset Circle. Mr.Harrington commented that,after the Board's vote
M
in December, the order letter was late getting out to the owner but, during the period between
the meeting, and the letter being sent, the owner stayed in contact with the office and reported
that she was making an effort to comply. The Board has not issued fines when someone is
demonstrating effort. The Board can issue fines at the next meeting if no other action has been
taken by the owner.
Mr. Harrington stated that he had sent the Board a photo of the outside of the property. The
owner claims to have had some mattresses removed, but Mr. Harrington did not remember
seeing any mattresses on the property, and has not been able to corroborate with the company
1
