i i ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES F JANUARY 1 , 1994 Members Present: Sid Stern, Paul Reynolds , Steve Innis, Nelson Andrews (alternate . Also present: Wayne Duchemin, E.D. Coordinator Dan waters ( DC Applicant ) The Meeting was called to order at : 1 0 p.m. The Minutes of January 10 , 1994 were accepted with the followincj corrections : Curland should be Kurland; strike the last sentence in paragraph 1, p. 1, re: Wa rne ' s accomplishments . SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS Paull will report on the questionnaire later in the meeting. Steve reported the Guidebooks have been delivered to real estate IMP brokers. e: Internet, CCS has three contracts on Cape to be put on Line, and Steve suggested invitincf CCS to an EDC meeting. Maybe they would connect our Committee ' s Computer as an introduction at a discount. Having access to Internet would be a food market feature to Mashee with its surrounding towns. Sid gave Wayne a copy of the December 29 , 1994 "Cade Cod Commission Reporter" noting he would like to get an article in it re: CCS, similar to that on "P-Town. " Steve will invite CCS. Nelson son stated he will forward a report to Wayne re: Cade Cod Golf Courses . t At 7 : o p,m, Tern Fudala, Town Planner, reviewed with EDC the Mash pee Comprehensive Plan - Economic Development Element Coals Objectives. Mr. Fudala stated than Mash pee will benefit from this regional plan, and grants have been received to help 'in this effort. He is looking for comments from EDC and approval of its coals and policies for economic development. They will be brought to the Planning Board, and a hearing is scheduled next month. Mr. Fudala offered anyone who wants to read the Regional. Policy Plan which he used as a resource can do so upon request. The target date for completion is 1997 . The coals, objectives , and policies for economic development were reviewed one by one, and input from Wayne and EDC members were given to Mr. Fudala. At the end of this review, Mr. Fudala asked EDC to vote in favor of the changes made and confirm that they reflect EDC sentiment. A motion was mace to endorse the changes made and to confirm they reflect EDC sentiment. Motion carried. Sid asked Mr. Fudala to look into trading properties which would involve zoning "swaps. " Mr. Fudala distributed an article which stated that the two most important factors for relocation decisions are 1 skilled labor force and ( pro business climate.
