The article is proposed to
authorize the Board of Selectmen to petition the General Court for an amendment to the Mashpee Home Rule
Charter for the name change.
After consultation with the Attorney General's Office,Mr. Larkin recommended the Board consider a simple
addendum to the article to allow the citizens of the Town of Mashpee the opportunity to ratify the Special Act
if it is endorsed by a Ballot Question vote.
It was explained that this action would stay true to the Town Charter and for transparency it is something that
should be done for the Town within the Town by its voters.
Lynne Barbee a resident of Surf Drive graciously recognized Andrew McManus, Conservation Agent who
attended a recent homeowners association meeting. The presentation made by Mr. McManus was informative
and responsive.
