D <br /> Reorganization of Board <br /> Virginia Scharfenberg nominated Joan Lyons and Ann Macdonald to serve as Co-Chairs of the <br /> Board. <br /> Sandra Lahart seconded the nomination. <br /> VOTE:Yes-7 <br /> Roll Call Vote: Amanda Hall, yes Sandra Lahart, yes <br /> Mary LeClair, yes Joan Lyons, yes <br /> Ann Macdonald,yes Ruth Nickerson,yes <br /> Virginia Scharfenberg, yes <br /> Reports <br /> The Library Director presented highlights of her report, which provided an overview of <br /> operations for the past year during the COVID-1 9 pandemic. <br /> • The annual statistics for the FY 21 fiscal year will be compiled by the CLAMS network <br /> in July 2021. Circulation figures will show a decrease in usage of physical materials as a <br /> result of the building closures and transition to curbside pick-up. Numbers for digital <br /> resources such as ebooks have increased and remained consistently higher than pre- <br /> pandemic figures. Patrons may have adopted new preferences in terms of formats,which <br /> will continue despite access to the physical collections. Statistics for DVDs, and CDs <br /> dropped dramatically due to the production shutdowns in the film and television industry <br /> and the rise of streaming services. DVDs were not produced or released for sale in great <br /> numbers. <br /> • Safety and cleaning protocols adopted as a result of COVID-19 will be continued to some <br /> extent as we move forward. Plexi-glass will remain in place for the coming months, and <br /> hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the building. <br /> • Options for providing outdoor lockers for pick up of materials by patrons on a regular <br /> basis is under review. Libraries would like to find methods to allow patrons expanded <br /> access to pick up materials on hold, and locker systems provide an opportunity, but can <br /> be costly. <br /> • The process of reopening the Library's meeting rooms is a priority and new guidelines <br /> and schedules will be developed and potentially ready for discussion in August. One area <br /> requiring attention is the Children's Programs and the need for social distancing among <br /> unvaccinated children. The small Children's Program room will not accommodate any <br />
