(This space is reserved for topics that the Chairman did not reasonably anticipate would be
discussed).
Mr. Weeden wanted to speak about why he voted no on the 6:15 hearing. He said we're here to represent the
Town. One of the reasons he voted no was that it is at our discretion, we shouldn't let the engineers or
applicants control the Commission. Moving forward we should work on our communication as a Commissic
so that we're all on the same page and don't look dysfunctional. I don't want to see tension or animosity in
play when we make these decisions. We need to make the best decisions for the Town. One of the other
reasons I felt compelled to vote no was because of the attitude and tension I felt. I'm all about feelings and if
people rub you the wrong way, I'm not going to be scrutinized for the decision I make. I have no problem
answering to my constituents if they ask me to. I feel like that was out of line, it's at the Commission's
discretion to speak on how they voted, I don't think it's appropriate to put them on the spot.
Mr. Smith said we are a Conservation Commission, not a Feelings Commission. Democracy can sometimes I
messy and discussions should be made in public. Motions can be made by any Commissioner and voted on b;
any other Commissioner.
Mr. Weeden said he feels like he's being cut off and if we're going to talk about respect, then I think we
should talk about it. You got personal by saying you weren't present for a vote, I'm not sure what that had to
do with tonight. If we're going to talk about personal stuff then we can talk about emotions and being
personal. For you to disregard the concerns, I feel is unbecoming, and it's not appropriate to dismiss the
concerns of any Commissioner. The point was we shouldn't get direction from engineers and consultants, it
should come from the Commission. That's all I was saying.
Mr. Smith said if there are any Conservation concerns in all of that, he's happy to discuss.
ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Weeden motioned to adjourn.
Mr. Sweet seconded the motion.
Vote: 6-0-0
Roll Call Vote:
Mr. Sweet; yes
Mr. Dalton; yes
Mr. O'Neill; yes
Mr. Weeden; yes
Ms. Zollo; yes
Mr. Smith; yes
In favor, 6; Opposed, 0; Abstentions, 0
Meeting adjourned at 7:44pm.
Respe t ul submitted,
Katrin in/
Bv rd,S cretary
