She referenced 243 CIVIR 2.074, stating that requiring <br /> someone to wear a mask |sa medical intervention and could be considered practicing medicine <br /> without a license. She stated that the Board does not have authority to require public <br /> accommodations, and it is punishable by up to two and one-half years in a house of correction. <br /> No emergency order supersedes an established law. She stated that this disease has an animal <br /> host and *ve have to learn to live with it, and focus on early treatment. Chair Baumgaerte| <br /> requested that Mo. Sprout provide the statutory references tothe Board. <br /> A member of the public who was present, but did not introduce herself for the record, provided <br /> handouts to the Board related to a peer study in Florida that identified various diseases and <br /> contagions on masks worn by children. She identified herself as a fitness and health advocate, <br /> and expressed her frustration that, since the pandemic started, the importance of maintaining <br /> overall health and a healthy lifestyle has never been addressed. <br /> Janet Ryan, Tinmber/ane Drive, introduced herself for the record. She commented that her daughter, <br /> who is a senior at the high school, had fainted in class due to decreased oxygen level, She stated <br /> that the volleyball team plays indoors, and must be maxed, and two players fainted because of <br /> the lack of fresh air while engaged in a strenuous activity. She mentioned the impact that the <br /> pmndenmic has had on her none-essential business aswell. <br /> Dorothy [ortemanche, Orchard Road, introduced herself for the record. She quoted National <br /> Institutes of Health reports, which included some of the physical and psychological effects of <br /> wearing amask. She urged a scientific,evidence-based approach when considering measures to <br /> protect the public. She provided the Board with a handout aswell. <br /> Paul C|pran, Musket Lane, introduced himself for the record. He asked for clarification about case <br /> notifications from the schools, and Chair BaurngaeMLe| stated that he could not speak for the <br /> Superintendent. He expressed his opinion that the system is broken, and whatever positive <br /> outcome that is hoped for by masking kids in the schools, can't exist once those kids get onthe <br /> bus. On the Town-wide mask mandate, he stated that the Board cannot enforce that. <br /> Sarah F|nnelL Sheffield Place, introduced herself for the record. She thanked the Board for giving <br /> the public an opportunity to speak tothem. She expressed her opinion that masks use should be <br /> a personal decision, and the efficacy of masks iainquestion. She |s home-schooling her children <br /> because she feels strongly that it is not worth subjecting her kids to the adverse physical and <br /> emotional effects of prolonged mask use in the schools. <br /> 3 <br />
