5 <br /> Mashpee Select Board <br /> Minutes <br /> November 15, 2021 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Presentation Discussion and Possible Action on the Final Report of the Town Seal Committee: Town Seal <br /> Committee,Pierce-Cote Advertising: (continued) <br /> Representatives of Pierce-Cote Advertising discussed the concepts and preferences included in the <br /> final design preferences. The Town Seal clearly communicates that Mashpee is a welcoming and caring <br /> community which connects and honors the tradition of the Wampanoag Tribe as stewards of its land <br /> and beauty,to the Town moving forward in unity to greet the next day. <br /> The border represents the Wampum beads, showing single white beads in the Mashpee Wampanoag purple. <br /> The rising sun represents both a new day, a new start while also holding the meaning of the Wampanoag Tribe <br /> being the"People of First Light." The Wampanoag Tribe also hold symbolism in the eagle, flying closest to <br /> the sun and creator. The Mashpee River was chosen to represent connection to something larger. "Welcome <br /> to Mashpee" is written in the Wampanoag language to honor the past while welcoming the future of Mashpee. <br /> Colors were chosen to represent harmony, unity, and the beauty of Mashpee. <br /> The Select Board expressed appreciation to the Town Seal Committee and to Pierce-Cote Advertising for <br /> bringing all of their thoughts into consideration for the new Town Seal. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to bring forth an article in May to Town Meeting to adopt the new <br /> Town Seal for the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Selectman Cotton,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Opposed, none <br /> Adjourn Joint Meeting with the Town Seal Committee: 6:25 p.m. <br /> Discussion and Approval of the Following Special Events and Temporary Sign Permits: <br /> Annual Chamber Christmas Parade— Saturday December 11 2021 5:30 - 7:30 PM Mashpee Commons: <br /> Mashpee Chamber of Commerce: <br /> Katy Acheson, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce was in attendance to request the Select Board <br /> approve the Special Event Application for the 15th Annual Christmas Parade scheduled to be held on Saturday, <br /> December 11, 2021 with a rain date of December 12, 2021. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Steeple <br /> Street and traverse throughout Mashpee Commons. Information regarding the parade route can be found on the <br /> Mashpee Chamber of Commerce website. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cotton to approve the Special Event Application of the Mashpee Chamber of <br /> Commerce for the Annual Christmas Parade as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Gottlieb, yes Selectman Cotton,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara, yes Opposed, none <br />
