February 27, 2015
Page 9
"Outdoor display" is not specifically allowed in any district. However, it is
implicitly incidental to many retail business including hardware stores, lawn and garden
centers, boat retailers, etc. These businesses routinely display their wares outdoors.
Thus, outdoor display is substantially similar to uses that are allowed in commercial and
industrial districts. In addition, outdoor display is similar to "Contractor yards" which
are used for outdoor storage of equipment. See, § 174-25.F(14). And Mr. Carter's
proposed outdoor display of classic cars for sale is similar to a "parking lot" use allowed
by special permit in an industrial district under § 174-25.H(8).
For these reasons, and the reasons outlined above regarding compliance with §
174-24.C, Mr. Carter requests that the Zoning Board of Appeals approve his proposed
outdoor display area.
CONCLUSION
For all of the forgoing reasons, Mr. Carter requests that the Zoning Board of
Appeals grant a Special Permit allowing the proposed project.
Respectfully submitted,
17fGx
Brian J.
