Town of Mashpee <br /> Planning Board <br /> Minutes of fleeting <br /> October 7, 2009 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Planning Board Meeting was called to order in Conference <br /> Room #1, Mashpee Town Hall, 16 Great Neck Toad North, Mashpee, Massachusetts at <br /> :00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 <br /> Planning Board members present: Dennis l al a rini, vice-Chairman; John <br /> Cotton, Associate Member; James Leonard; Joseph Bull in, Clerk; Thomas O'Hara, <br /> Chairman; and Mary Waygan. <br /> Also present: F. Thomas F'ud l , Town Planner; Thomas Mayo, GIS Coordinator; <br /> and Charles Rowley,Consulting Engineer. <br /> quorum being present the Chairman called the Meeting to order and addressed <br /> the first order of business. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> July I , 2009 <br /> MOTION: James Leonard made a Motion to approve the Minutes of the July 15, <br /> 2009 Planning Board fleeting as submitted; which Motion was duly seconded by Dennis <br /> al .arini and so voted unanimously. <br /> Discussion <br /> Chatham Bylaw <br /> James Leonard made reference to an article printed in the Cape Cod Times, "Old <br /> Cape Cod" recognizing the Town of Chatham as the third Cape Town to adopt a zoning <br /> bylaw regulating chain stores and franchise design, along with the Town of Dennis and <br /> Nantucket. He made reference to the proposed construction of a Walgreens at South <br /> Cape Village. <br /> The Chairman noted that the Design/Plan Review Committee dictates color use, <br /> landscaping, and building design. Department heads, as well as a building and landscape <br /> architect and the Town Planner attend these sessions. <br /> Mr. Leonard favors the Chatham language that states the chain store cannot <br /> dictate the design layout of the building, signs, etc. Although he has no objection and <br /> understands the importance of having a major chain store in Mashpee, he does not agree <br /> that the store should dictate the design features of the building,which he feels is the case <br /> with the Walgreens building. <br /> 1 <br />
