13 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 26, 200 <br /> NEW BUSINESS. <br /> Acceptance of Town Counsel Services Proposal: <br /> The Board of Selectmen recently interviewed candidates for the position <br /> of Town Counsel. The following four firms were interviewed equally; <br /> Kopenan and Paige, P.C. —present Town Counsel <br /> Brackett & Lucas <br /> Clank, Balboni & Gildea, LI P <br /> Derrick, Louison& Costello, L P <br /> Upon deliberation, the seven lawyer firm of Merrick, Louison, & Costello <br /> was deemed favorable to Provide expertise in legal affairs for the Town of <br /> Masbpee on a more Personal level. The firm also consists of five associate <br /> attorneys experienced in municipal representation, two paralegals and two <br /> administrative assistants/legal secretaries and an office administrator. <br /> Kopelman and Paige, a large municipal law firm was agreed to be retained <br /> should circumstances arise that would warrant their particular expertise. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to appoint the law firm o <br /> Merrick,Louison & Costello,LLP of Boston to the position of Town <br /> Counsel for the Town of 1lashpee. Attorney Patrick Costello i <br /> designated as the principal attorney serving Mashpee as'Town <br /> Counsel handling general legal affairs of the Town and contract <br /> negotiations. It is agreed that should circumstances arise the warrant <br /> particular expertise, special counsel would be appointed as needed. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -0. <br />
