5 <br /> i <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 23, 2004 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearin —VFW Liquor License continued from l 9 04: <br /> (continued) <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cah l ne to continue the Public Hearing <br /> associated to the VIFW Liquor License to Monday,March 15, 2004 as <br /> requested, <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -0. <br /> Selectman Leveille abstained. <br /> Joint Meetin —Finance Committee—Budget Discussion: <br /> The Board of Selectmen met with the Finance Committee for the purpose <br /> of reviewing the FY05 budget. Recommendations from the Town <br /> Administrator slated January 30, 2004 were disclosed. Correspondence <br /> distributed included a 2005 budget preparation wrsheet and <br /> recommended reductions to the Police Department's proposed FY0 <br /> operating budget, <br /> The Finance Committee indicated that they are deliberating on the budget <br /> and expect to present their rec m endations prior to the March 24, 2004 <br /> publishing deadline for the May Town Meeting Warrant articles. <br /> The Finance Committee suggested that members of the Board of <br /> Selectmen meet to further consider a multi-year override of proposition 2 <br /> 1 for the next three years. <br /> n override for fiscal year 2006 and beyond would aHow for action to <br /> protect and improve public safety, security, roads, and the infrastructure <br /> needs of the Town. Finance suggested that the matter appear be.fore the <br /> voters in October to{allow the Town departments to plan ahead and target <br /> anticipated needs and expenditures. <br /> It was agreed that an ad hoc committee comprised of Selectmen Reveille, <br /> Selectman Marsters and the Town Administrator would meet with <br /> members of the Finance Committee to consider the multi-year override <br /> proposal and other issues facing the Town. <br />
