I understand that the change of <br /> street ftaxes can cause inconvenience and disturb the <br /> tradition of certain neighborhoods . However, ha-ving. three <br /> public ways with a like sounding- name causes c nfu7sion <br /> during critical incidents. In th.e past I have worked on <br /> the planning and methods to enhance the 911 syst . . One of <br /> the key components to that process and management system <br /> was to insure that street names were chanced to avoid <br /> confu ioh during emergencies . In my twenty-seven years of <br /> law enforcement experience I have found that dispatchers <br /> and other public safety offIcials can send eme-rgency <br /> assistance to the wrong address- under con usincj <br /> circumstances . when seconds are precious and can be life <br /> t -rea,tening or life saving, public safety must be the <br /> prevailing riority.
