Sheets 2 and 3 of 5
The drainage swales that show on the plans as connecting the infiltration areas
need to be detailed as to bottom width and side slope. It is essential to show the details
for two reasons.
1. To be sure that side slopes will fit the grade along the proposed road
shoulder and,
2. Provide a potential contractor with sufficient detail to construct the project
in conformance with the plans approved by the Board.
Roadway Profile Plans
Sheet 1 of 9
1. Isolated leaching basins are shown at stations 2+50 and 10+60 off the
road shoulders. The grate elevations are shown only 0.60' and 0.30'
below the crown of the road at those locations. This needs review with
respect to the proposed swale grades. The concern is for potential
flooding of the road surface before they become effective.
Sheet 2 of 9
1. The cover over the drainage pipe at station 20+0 is less than 2'. The pipe
should be lowered so that there is a minimum of 2' of cover at all
locations.
2. At station 12+45 the isolated leaching pit in the shoulder is only 0.80'
below the centerline grade of the road at that point. This needs review
similar to the two locations on sheet 1.
Detail Sheet
Refer to letter of October 11, 2002, Item 3c for notes relative to the
infiltration swales. These need to be dimensioned for construction purposes. If
they are of different width, they need to be appropriately labeled.
