• <br />Mashpee Zoning <br />Board of Appeals <br />I <br />Minutes <br />May 27, 2009 <br />Zoning Board of Appeals <br />Minutes — Wednesday, May 27, 2009 <br />The Mashpee Zoning Board of Appeals held a Public Hearing <br />on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Mashpee Town Hall. <br />Board Members Robert Nelson, John Dorsey, Jonathan <br />Furbush, James Reiffarth and William Blaisdell were present. <br />Alternate member Peter Hinden was absent. <br />Robert Nelson opened the hearing at 7:00 p.m. <br />Executive Session: -- under separate submission. <br />New Hearinas <br />• William Herbert: Requests a Variance from Section 174-33 of the Zoning <br />By-laws to seek relief from the setback requirements to the coastal <br />bank in order to build a garage on property located in an R-3 zoning <br />district at 42 Spoondrift Way (Map 111 Parcel 127) Mashpee, MA <br />William Herbert: Requests a Variance from Section 174-31 of the Zoning <br />By-laws to seek relief from the setback requirements in order to build a <br />garage on property located in an R-3 zoning district at 42 Spoondrift <br />Way (Map 111 Parcel 127) Mashpee, MA <br />Sitting: Robert Nelson, Jonathan Furbush, James Reiffarth, William Blaisdell and <br />Jack Dorsey. <br />The Herberts are asking for a variance from the sideline and from the distance to <br />the coastal bank. Tom Bunker is present from BSS Design and representing the <br />Herberts. He describes the home as being built in 1962 when there was no <br />zoning in place. They are proposing a 2 car garage with an 8 foot walkway in <br />between the house and the garage. By doing this, it makes it necessary for the <br />Board to grant them a variance and Mr. Nelson feels they are creating their own <br />hardship. They discuss alternatives to reduce the need for the variance by <br />attaching the garage to the house. Mrs. Herbert says there is a kitchen window <br />0 <br />there and will kill any light they have coming through there. They discuss <br />
