Mashpee Zoning
Board of Appeals Minutes
5 May 14, 2008
is something the Town may need help with financially. This of course must be addressed
since that is that last detail of the project that ties everything together for a unified look.
It was suggested by the Town Planner that an additional 5 feet of buffer be granted for
grading purposes and the like. Mr. Nelson and the board agree this is a good idea as well.
Jonathan Furbush questions the stormwater and the output. The Board is informed that
the library will be connected to the Mashpee Commons wastewater treatment plant.
Ms. Laurent mentions the easement that was granted at the Town Meeting on May 5,
2008 was for a sidewalk and they are requesting they be allowed to determine at a later
date whether they will use some of it for parking and some for a walkway. The Board is
acceptable to that request.
There will be a fenced in story garden for the children where they are able to finish their
stories outside in a safe environment.
Abutter Karen Cowen of 56 Main Street is curious what the fire department said about
the height variances? She was told the Fire Department has been fully involved in this
project and they have equipment that can accommodate any issues such as this that may
arise. .
is Mr. Pomroy adds that the Fire Department did ask for paved surfaces in the rear for their
trucks to be put up on hard surfaces — that has been accommodated.
The Board continues to review all of the architectural plans from J. Stewart Roberts
Associates, Inc. of Somerville as well as site layout plan.
The Board of Selectmen fully endorse the project and recognize the many years of effort
so many people have devoted to achieve the goal of a brand new library the Town of
Mashpee so richly deserves.
Jonathan Furbush makes a motion to grant the following variances:
Robert Nelson seconds the motion. All agree. So moved. 'The motion is conditioned on
architect and site plans from J. Stewart Roberts Associates, Inc. of Somerville, MA, dated
April 22, 2008. Additionally included are comments from the Board of Health, a letter
from direct abutter Douglas Storrs, Vice President of Mashpee Commons, LLP dated
May 13, 2008
Peter White- La Plaza Del Sol: Filing a Notice of Appeal to overturn the Building
Commissioner's Decision regarding La Plaza Del Sol and the cease & desist order issued
. on March 18, 2008 due to the hotel operating illegally with respect to a maximum
allowable stay of 30 days for any patron on property located in an R-5 zoning district at
66-72 Main Street (Map 47 Parcel 59) Mashpee, Ma. Owner of Record: Affordable
Housing of Mashpee.
