Talanian Realty 6 Charles Street
Mashpee Investors, LLC Map 81 Parcel 25
SP-06-15
A Petition was filed on January 17, 2006 for a Special Permit under Sections 174-
51 (B) and (C) of the Zoning By-laws for permission to erect signage on property located
in an C-1 zoning district at 6 Charles Street (Map 81 Block 25) Mashpee, MA.
Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massachusetts General
Laws Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in The Mashpee Enterprise, a
newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee, on January 20, 2006 and
January 27, 2006, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
A Public Hearing was held on the Petition at the Mashpee Town Hall on
Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at which time the following members of the Zoning Board
of Appeals were present and acting throughout: Robert Nelson, Zella Elizenberry,
Frederick Borgeson, Jonathan Furbush and Marshall Brem.
The Mashpee Zoning Board of Appeals issues this Decision pursuant to the
provisions of Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40A, Section 9 and the Town of
Mashpee Zoning By-laws.
Attorney Donald Megathalin represents the applicant at this hearing. They are
seeking a Special Permit to erect a sign that will be more than 20 square feet and need
ZBA approval to do so. The Board reviews the plans and sees that Design Review has
approved the sign with a few suggestions. The sign needs to be reduced to 58 square
feet; the lighting shall be non-illuminated (goose neck style); and the clabboard backing
shall match the existing stores whereby the individual letters will be mounted on the sign.
The Board feels this will blend in with the existing stores nicely. Frederick Borgeson
makes a motion to grant the special permit. Marshall Brem seconds the motion. All
agree. Motion is carried.
No comments were received from abutters.
GENERAL FINDINGS
1, that the subject property is located at 6 Charles Street and contains 6 acres of
land.
