Mashpee Zoning Minutes—May 22, 2002 11
Board of Appeals
construct the buildings so that they do not "look like they are towering" over Route 130.
Ms. Elizenberry said that the Town is in dire need of affordable housing.
Mr. Govoni commented that there is another 40B comprehensive permit being proposed
in Town. Ms. Elizenberry encouraged the Board to work with these Petitioners, most of
whom are very willing to cooperate with the Town boards and committees to ensure
success. Mr. Govoni said that the Petitioner said that the project would only provide a
portion, 25%, of the units as affordable. Ms. Elizenberry said that state law requires that
the affordable units must look like the other units that would be rented at current market
price. Mr. Borgeson said that he is in favor of affordable housing, but expressed concern
with the location of the buildings on Route 130. He said that the increase in traffic would
have cars backed up at the lights at the intersection. Mr. Wheeler stated that the ZBA has
the authority to condition the proposal. Mr. Govoni repeated that the proposal "looks like
a state hospital". Mr. Govoni asked Mr. Wheeler to arrange a meeting for someone from
Kopelman & Paige to meet with the ZBA on the 40B proposals. The Board requested
that the meeting take place in late afternoon sometime in June.
MEETING
TIME
Mr. Govoni moved to change the meeting time to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Borgeson seconded. All
agreed, with the exception of Mr. Regan.
i
MINUTES
Accept Minutes of April 24, 2002.
Mr. Regan moved to accept the Minutes of April 24, 2002.
