The two newest members of <br /> the Assessing Department, Trish Keliinui and Rowela Kent, have successfully <br /> completed their Department of Revenue on-line Course 101 Assessment <br /> Administration: Law, Procedures & Valuation. Director Streebel also told the board <br /> that so far only about seven abatements had been filed for FY23 but that a lot of <br /> taxpayers from Monomoscoy Island had contacted the office as their area had seen <br /> more than a 60% increase on average. Director Streebel also informed the Board <br /> that he had given his retirement notice to the Town Manager on January 6t" and that <br /> February 25t"would be his last day. The Board expressed their good wishes to Mr. <br /> Streebel and thanked him for his many years of service to the Town of Mashpee. <br /> • Discussion regarding the potential implementation of the Residential <br /> Exemption. <br /> After review and discussion on the various scenarios available to the Board of <br /> Selectmen and seeing the trend of their discussions at the last Classification <br /> Hearing regarding the BOS' trending in the direction to implement the Residential <br /> Exemption; the Board of Assessors instructed Mr. Streebel to draft a letter to the <br /> BOS reflecting their vote and providing the information on which the BOA <br /> deliberated. <br /> Paul Andrews motioned: "If the Board of Selectmen intends to vote to implement <br /> the Residential Exemption at their Classification Hearing for FY2023, the Board <br /> of Assessors recommends that a percentage of no more than 20% be chosen <br /> and that the Selectmen allocate in advance any necessary funds for the <br /> additional costs associated with implementation as recommended by the <br /> Financial Team." <br /> Gregg Fraser seconded the motion. <br /> VOTE: Yes-3 <br /> Roll Call Vote: John Bartos, yes; Gregg Fraser, yes, Paul Andrews, yes <br /> • Additional Topics: None <br /> - 2 - <br />
