IN OF HAS11PEE
OWN CLERK
A 12 PH 1: 5 0
P.O. BOX 468
MASHPEE,
MASS. 02649
466
kugdst 11, 1998 Associa-tion,
rown of Mashpee
Board of Appeals
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA 02649
RE : Hearing August 12, 1998
Jason Stone variance request concerning 407 Great Oak Road.
William McElroy variance requested concerning 403 Great Oak
Road.
Jason Stone variance request 397 Great Oak Road
Gentlemen:
Thig letter is written on behalf of the one hundred seventeen
property owners and residents of South Cape Estate and Quail Hollow
village, both of these neighborhoods are located between Great Oak
Road and Great River. Both our Association and the residents of
the above areas who are our members are strongly opposed to the
grahting of the requests set forth in the above noted applications
for the reasons set forth below.
1 . Great Oak Road, because of its layout with constant curves
resulting in many areas of limited view, including the area
abutting the properties here in question, and because of the
substantial increase in traffic due to the establishment of South
Cape Beach has become almost too heavily travelled. Allowance of
these applications would result in the only direct house driveway
onto the street on the entire length of Great Oak Road as well as
shorter driveways because of the request to vary the setback
requirement deemed necessary by the citizens of the Town in
establishing the zoning by-laws . We urge upon you the conclusion
that varying the setback from the street as requested would result
in an unacceptable risk to the public use of Great Oak Road.
