Wightman - SP-95-38 419 Monomoscoy Road
Map 124, Block 58
A Petition was filed on April 18, 1995 by Walter S. Wightman of Woburn,
Massachusetts for a Variance from Section 175-25.I.9 of the Zoning By-laws for
permission to exceed a 70 feet pier length to allow for a 97 foot pier on property located
in an R-3 zoning district at 419 Monomoscoy Road (Map 124, Block 58) Mashpee, MA.
Notice was duly given to abutters in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws
Chapter 40A. Notice was given by publication in The Mashpee Enterprise, a newspaper
of general circulation in the Town of Mashpee, on May 5, 1995 and May 12, 1995, a copy
of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
A Public Hearing was held on the Petition at the Mashpee Town Hall on
Wednesday, May 24, 1995 at 7:30 P.M. at which time the following members of the
Board of Appeals were present and acting throughout: Edward M. Govoni, James E.
Regan III and Robert G. Nelson.
This Decision is issued by the Mashpee Board of Appeals pursuant to the
provisions of Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40A, Section 9 and Section 175-25.I.9
of the Mashpee Zoning By-laws.
Engineer Jeffrey Johnson represented the applicant and presented plans for a
proposed pier, ramp and float. He explained that the topography of the lot and the 50 foot
band of saltmarsh required the extension of the dock and that both Conservation and the
Harbormaster had approved the plans. The Board requested revised plans to determine the
exact length adjusted for the angle between the pier and the ramp. Mr. Johnson stated
that the float and ramp will be removed seasonally. No comments were received from
abutters.
