May 3 , 1990
Page 6
Site Walkover Inspection
Site walkover inspections were conducted on March 29 and
April 19 , 1990 . Initial investigations involved the
service / repair complex due to the storage and use of
hazardous materials associated with this service work .
Automotive fluids stored in this area included 55 gallon
drums of 30 weight motor oil and antifreeze , 5 gallon
containers of hydraulic fluid , and five cases of motor oil .
No floor drains or remote fills were observed in the service
garage complex . The attached service office contained
hardware and engine suppies .
' Waste oil was stored in plastic 55 gallon drums in a shed
attached to the service complex. This shed had incorporated
spill containment into its design which included a sealed
concrete floor and berm. Minor spills in this area were
absorbed with Speedy Dry .
A single 1000 gallon unleaded gasoline underground storage
tank was located near the service office . Fuel from this
tank was pumped 'to a dispenser on a pier via a 2 inch
galvanized metal pipe . The tank vent was attached to the
exterior service office wall . No visual observations were
noted in or near the rivers edge which would suggest that
petroleum product had leaked into the subsurface .
