NEW BUSINESS:
Strategy for getting people to May 2, 2022 Town Meeting, including 14+ future
gardeners: Board discussion of notifying all current gardeners as well as, at a minimum,
the 14 people on Wait List that would likely get a garden bed as a result of Town Meeting
vote.
Welcome Back to the Garden event in April 2022: See discussion above.
Available Mashpee Library rooms for MCGAC community talk or gathering: Virginia
noted that Library Director Kathy Mahoney has indicated rooms will now be available to
reserve for public meetings. The Board mutually agreed that at this point it seems we
would be more likely to do an event at the garden. We can discuss later if our plans
change.

Board members asked Virginia to check with Town Hall to see if we could hold a Board
meeting at the library rather than at Town Hall if we wanted to. She will check with Terrie
Cook at Town Hall as well as Kathy Mahoney at the library.
NOTE FROM CHAIR: TO BE DECIDED AT NEXT MEETING: We forgot to discuss addition of new
Board member and who we should call, given that no one has responded to email request. This
person would fill Bill Nay’s remaining term of office.
ADDITIONAL TOPICS:
Board members asked Virginia to check with proposed subcontractors for garden expansion if their
fall 2021 cost proposals are still appropriate or if they might be increasing them. We will probably
have enough in the proposed budget to cover increases, but we have a remaining balance from
previous funding. Virginia will check with DPW Director Catherine Laurent to get the current balance
and to discuss details of construction materials we will likely be asking her to order for us and the soil
and wood chips we will be requesting from their stockpile.
ADJOURNMENT
Ms. Harris motioned to adjourn. Ms. Carberry seconded. Vote: 5-0-0 unanimous. Meeting
adjourned at 8:03 PM.
NEXT MEETING DATE: Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Town Hall unless Zoom deemed necessary

Respectfully submitted,

Virginia Scharfenberg, President (in the absence of Katrina Ewing. Board Secretary)
2
