DNR Director/Shellfish Constable Report:Chris Avis(for DNR and Shellfish)reported that the <br /> Shellfish office is running smoothly. Boats are commissioned and beginning to lift and move <br /> cages as needed.They are in the process of cleaning up areas that were damaged during the <br /> winter.All activities will begin to accelerate with the arrival of seasonal help. Lastly, Chris <br /> reported that the final review of the new Rules&Regulations is taking place with our Town <br /> Attorney and should be ready for approval by the Select Board shortly. <br /> Committee Reports: <br /> Mashpee/Wakeby and John's Pond and fresh waters:Don MacDonald reported that the Lake <br /> Study project,conducted under the auspices of Brian Howes of UMass Dartmouth,has begun. <br /> Don also brought up the issue of a lack of catch basins on a long stretch of roadway adjacent <br /> to the pond that is causing server rainwater runoff. He asked for DNR support to Public Works <br /> to help address areas of concern. <br /> Don also mentioned the May 22 Town Meeting discussion on Santuit Pond and resolve of the <br /> alum situation whereby catch basins for roadway runoff into Santuit could help the Solar Bee <br /> effort but it was noted would not be the final resolve. <br /> Popponesset Bay Area: No Report <br /> Waquoit Bay Area: No Report <br /> Water Quality:Don MacDonald reiterated that all testing dates have been established and we <br /> are targeting a training session for volunteers for the last week of June. <br /> Barnstable County Coastal Resources: No Report <br /> Sewer Commission: No Report <br /> Public Access: Noted above in Harbormaster's section <br /> LG/GR Expansion Project: Dick Noonan reported that the NOI has been signed by the Town <br /> Manager and the filing process with Conservation and Natural Heritage&Endangered Species <br /> Program has begun. <br /> County Dredging: Ken reported that the Poppy Approach Channel dredge is completed. It <br /> encountered several delays including a planned start date of 1/5/22 that was pushed back <br /> multiple times to an actual start date of 2/22/22. Dredging was completed on 3/22/22.All pipe <br /> was removed from the beach on 3/24 and submerged and marked in waters on the Sound side <br /> of the Spit and it has subsequently been removed to a new destination. Weather was the <br /> major cause for delays. <br /> Ken also reported that the Town has taken over the project for the improvement dredge for the <br /> Poppy Approach Channel.This project is intended to widen,deepen, and lengthen the <br /> channel.There is a need for a new easement on the Spit and Save the Bay is pursuing that. <br /> The Woods Hole Group is doing the engineering and permitting work for this project and are <br /> also following up on the easement with SPB. <br /> New Business: <br /> No New Business <br /> Additional Topics: <br /> Gregg Fraser requested that an agenda item be added to our next meeting.That being:the role <br /> of the Harbormaster's office for dredge projects. <br />
