PROVIDER Quick Facts Planet • Headquartered in San Francisco •Owns and operates a constellation of-150 active satellites and p� net. microsattelites • Founded by three former NASA scientists,and is partly owned by Google What's New: Planet is a rapidly growing imagery provider that continues to push the envelope when defining exactly what we've come to expect from satellite-based Earth imaging and analytics. With growth to Planet's constellation of satellites including Dove, RapidEye,and SkySat, Planet has diversified their imagery offerings to cover a mix of both high-resolution(currently up to 72 cm) and high-frequency collection,across a range of spectral bands.Automated feature extraction for roads, buildings,land-use,and waterways is also now offered through the Planet Insights product. In 2019, Planet launched their Planet Basemaps offering,which brings global coverage,streaming integration with ArcGIS and a lowered barrier to entry.The exact area of interest and refresh-rate is determined on a per-customer basis.
