Mr. Steve Marcus President of the Homeowners Association was
present.
The Board did not receive anything in writing from Bartlett Tree.
Judy explained that Tony Ferragamo spoke with Jim Ingram from
Bartlett Tree, He was not thrilled with the idea of deferring
the work to the fall but it is not an impossibility.
Judy stated her personal feeling is that some of the mature stock
which needs to be planted should go in now and defer some of the
smaller stock and maintenance to the fall,
Judy reviewed Bartlett' s list, She is primarily concerned with a
4" white oak and some highbush blueberry,
Pat asked if Bartlett gave specific information regarding large
and small stock planting etc,?
Judy stated that all she knows is he thinks it is not the best
thing to do but is possible.
She thinks the Board can agree on a middle ground.
Mr. Marcus asked about the stump management - what would be the
reason to re-plant around the particular stumps which had sprouts
growing from them?
Pat explained that when a tree is cut the root system feeds the
saplings around it. Stump management- is selecting which sprouts
you want to take over and thin back the others and encourage one
to take over. You get accelerated tree growth because of the
mature root system in place.
Louise stated that instead of replacing all the cut trees they
are managing the stump re-growth.
Pat stated that by keeping the trees alive and the root system
alive it is maintaining the bank.
Judy stated that there are 4 replacements, with a value of the
new stock of $710.00. They can put it all off to the fall, which
is not the best, or can put in the new stock and leave the
management to the fall.
Mr. Marcus stated that he and Mr, Curtis viewed the hillside and
the cutting were piled. There was no evidence of a 4" tree
there.
Pat explained that the stump had been buried after is was cut.
The Board has pictures of the cut tree,
Louise made a motion to go ahead with planting the new stock and
try to get further information from Jim Ingram to ensure that
maintenance can be put off to the fall. at seconded the motion.
All Board members were in favor. 4-0.
Judy explained that the Board will instruct Mr, Ingram to go
ahead with the new planting and the Association will receive the bill.
5
