Louise stated that this changes the wildlife habitat
substantially.
Dr. Kerf oot presented material to the Board on this issue.
Trout Unlimited is doing work in this area. Their prospective
can be extended.
Louise stated most of the work has been done in areas with
grazing animals . Isn' t it possible that a network of trees is
producing a net lass of nutrients from the river, acting as a
nutrient pump?
Dr. Kerf oot agreed, but this approach must be specific about the
articular areas. Regions closer to the esturine area with
sources of nutrients close to the shore line, for example.
Dr. Kerf oot stated that Trout Unlimited has -volunteered to-- take
people out on the Quashnet to show what they have been doing for
19 years.
Dr. Kerfoot presented to the Board "SEP sticks" . They are used
to deal with the problem of septic system failures. They have
taken this new product on the market. It is made of porus
plastic with dies added to the inside of the stick. It is like an
implant, with a time release of the dies . It can last up to 2
months in a system. Different die combinations will fingerprint
systems to determine the failure.
The Board had planned to have a public meeting to deal strickly
with this report and its recommendation.
The Board would like the final report before that meeting for
review.
The Board decided to have this meeting on June 12th at 7:30 in
Town Hall ( in the downstairs cafeteria) .
Tom will notify the Board of Health and all the newspapers .
Discussion of Donna' s Lane road taking article for Planning Board
report to Town Meeting.
Tony presented the plan and memo from Kevin Harrington requesting
the Planning Board recommendation.
.I
t is Town counsels opinion that a public hearing is not
necessary.
Town Counsel reported that no money is involved in this.
Louise made a motion that the Board recommend approval. Judy
seconded the motion. All Board members were in favor. 4-0 .
Tony will write the Planning Boards report to Mr. Harrington.
8
