MASRPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> June 15,2022 7:00 P.M. <br /> Popponessett Meeting Room <br /> PRESENT Virginia Scharfenberg, Sheryl Carberry, Frank Gallello,John Carter, Lynn Harris <br /> CALL TO ORDER Chairwoman Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:11 pm. <br /> Meeting Minutes for May 18, 2022—Approved unanimously <br /> COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE—none to report <br /> REPORTS and DISCUSSION: <br /> • Virginia Scharfenberg reported that new garden construction may start week of June 271h but <br /> will check again since HDNA, our construction contractor, has been experiencing scheduling <br /> delays due to weather. Fencing contractor should be able to adjust his installation schedule <br /> accordingly. Materials purchases and donations are being coordinated with Catherine <br /> Laurent, DPW Director. <br /> • Virginia will remind Catherine that the shed lock needs to be replaced as soon as possible. <br /> • Sheryl Carberry reviewed revised 2022 charts for the existing 20 beds and the new 14 beds. <br /> The Board approved them with a couple of minor edits on the existing beds chart. Copies of <br /> revised charts will be sent to all gardeners and will be posted in the shed. <br /> • Three of the existing beds were reported not to have yet been planted. #10 has now been <br /> prepped and is ready for planting by the new gardener. #14 has a new gardener-Virginia <br /> awaits a return call and will inform her she needs to plant by weekend of June 25'or we will <br /> reassign her bed. #11 has a renewed gardener—Virginia will call and inform her she needs to <br /> plant by weekend of June 25th or we will reassign her bed. If necessary for communication <br /> purposes a letter will be sent with deadline to the 2 gardeners. <br /> • The Board determined that Rules & Regulations need to be referenced when dealing with <br /> garden situations and all members need to understand the parameters. More strict <br /> enforcement will commence immediately. <br /> • The Board approved the pro forma text of a series of 3 letters to be used when someone has <br /> not planted or maintained their plot, or there is a situation that warrants Board attention. <br /> Each has a deadline for compliance and is accompanied by a copy of the Rules& Regulations <br /> with appropriate items circled. The first asks if they need assistance;the second states they <br /> have 10 days to comply;the third dismisses them from the garden. <br /> • The 3 existing Compost Bins still need to be removed.Virginia can send out group email <br /> offering them to a gardener if they are removed within a specified period of time. <br /> • Virginia is checking with the Town on relevant policy regarding individuals' use of Town <br /> property for their own purposes. <br /> • Lynn Harris, whose 3-year Board term ends this month, has agreed to stay on for a while and <br /> to be reappointed by the Town with the understanding that she can submit her resignation <br /> any time. She had initially planned to retire from the Board this month. Virginia will notify <br /> Stephanie Coleman in the Select Board's office. <br /> 1 <br />
