Examples
include a rain garden and roadside swales constructed in public ways. LID practices typically retain rain water
and encourage rain to soak into the ground rather than running off into ditches and storm drains.
A hand-out was prepared by the Town Planner and would be available to the public for additional review.
Mary Waygan, Chair of the Planning Board indicated the vegetative swales and rain gardens are required under
the Watershed Permit. Approval of this article would place Mashpee in the forefront. Ms. Waygan also stated
The wording of this article was changed from encourage to: require as residents and businesses all need to
contribute for clean water to make this happen.
