7. Update—MPS District COVID-19 Update—MPS District COVID-19 Health Coordinator Stacey Schakel <br /> Ms. Schakel updated the committee on the current health and safety status of the district. Ms. Schakel provided the <br /> update from DESE on mask requirements and presented a letter from the Mashpee Board of Health in support of <br /> MPS COVID protocols. <br /> Dr. Greg Parkinson,District Physician: <br /> Dr. Parkinson led a discussion on mask requirements and an argument for lifting the mandate. <br /> 8. Introduction of Mashpee Middle-High School Interim Principal Joshua Tarsky <br /> Superintendent DeBoer introduced Interim Principal Joshua Tarsky and provided an overview of his resume. Mr. <br /> Tarsky began at MMHS on February 1, 2022. Committee members each welcomed Mr. Tarsky to Mashpee and his <br /> new position. <br /> 9. Report of the Superintendent <br /> Enrollment and Personnel Updates: <br /> Superintendent DeBoer shared updates on new hires,resignations and retirements. <br /> Update of Quashnet School Principal,MaryKate O'Brien: <br /> Ms. O'Brien provided an update on Quashnet School happenings including the National Elementary Honor Society <br /> Induction Ceremony. She also gave a shout-out to Robotics Coach, Jamie Whiddon and grade 5 and 6 students for <br /> their participation in the VEX competition at MMHS as well as to Quashnet School Counselors on National School <br /> Counseling Week. <br /> Update of Coombs School Principal,Deb Goulart: <br /> Dr. Goulart updated the committee on the 100th Day of School projects and PTO happenings. <br /> Recognitions/Acknowledgements <br /> The Superintendent shared that the Cahoon Museum is offering a paid internship to a MMHS student interested <br /> in the Arts. This student will be chosen by the MMHS Art Department. She thanked the parents/guardians who <br /> were part of the Parent/Guardian Opinion Survey Focus Group for their help in their help in creating the survey, <br /> volunteers at the VEX Robotics Competition at MMHS. The Superintendent also provided updates on happenings <br /> in each of the schools. <br /> Update—MMHS Block Scheduling Evaluation Committee <br /> Dr. Hanscom provided update on MMHS Block Scheduling Evaluation Committee. A recommendation will be <br /> brought to the committee at the March 16th meeting. <br /> Update—FY 23 School-related CIP Projects,including MMHS Stadium Upgrade Project <br /> The Superintendent provided an update on school-related CIP projects, including MMHS stadium upgrade project. <br /> Plan/Process for hiring a permanent MMHS Principal <br /> The Superintendent shared that Dr. Hanscom and Dr. Curley will be facilitating the hiring process for a permanent <br /> MMHS Principal. <br /> 2022 MPS Parent/Guardian Opinion Surveys and Student Opinion Surveys (Gr. 5-12) <br /> Superintendent DeBoer provided an overview of the Family and Student Opinion Surveys. Surveys will be sent to <br /> parents/guardians on February 28th. The Student Opinion Survey for students in grades 5-12 will be administered <br /> on February 28th as well. <br />
