Taylor <br />Meeting Called to wOrder by Chairman Weeden at 6:53 p.m. <br />Mashpee Town Hall, Waquoit Meeting Room <br />MINUTES <br />Monda r October w17 2022 Rlar SesWsion Minutes: <br />Motion made by Selectman Sherman to approve the Regular Session minutes of <br />Monday, October 17, 2022 as presented. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Weeden, yes <br />Selectman Sherman, yes <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />Public Comment: <br />Selectman Cotton, yes Selectman O'Hara, yes <br />Selectman Wyman -Colombo, yes Opposed, none <br />Karen Faulkner of Asher's Path West read into the record the Select Board's Policy regarding the <br />1pponntment Policy for Boards, Commissions, Committees and Councils appointed by the Select Board. <br />Ms. Faulker made note of the Initial Interview Process and urged the Select Board to judge candidates on a <br />merit -based principle, and recommendations made based on a consistent evaluation method that considers <br />the candidate's qualifications and suitability. <br />Lynne Barbee a resident of Surf Drive expressed appreciation to the Select Board by following process to <br />correct a recent violation. Ms. Barbee spoke highly of the one she feels as the most qualified candidate for <br />appointment to the Affordable Housing Committee. <br />Rosa Whiting of Cutlass Lane asked the Select Board to take the concerns and interests of Mashpee into its <br />best interest to select the best candidate for the appointment to the Affordable Housing Committee. <br />Craig Mayen a resident of Old Colony Drive spoke on the proposed residential exemption and its <br />consequences to renters. It is estimated that 1,200 renters live year round in Mashpee. With increases in <br />utilities and other expenses, the impact of the exemption to those in the rental market would most likely be <br />another hurdle to homeownership. <br />Marcia Hecht of Hoopole Road voiced support for the most experienced Affordable Housing Committee <br />candidate who has a proven record of success. <br />
