PARTIAL PLANNING BOARD MINUTES OF THE JUNE 6, 1-9 7 9
MASHPEE PLANNING BOARD MEETING:
Present: Earle Marsters , Richard Terry, Donald. Blakeman,
Richardson Jonas, Harold Coll-ins ,
On June 6, 1979 Merwin Sturgis appeared before the board
with a preliminary plan. It is Land Court Plan #2 5384A.
Mr. Sturgis appeared before the board and stated he was in
a quandary. Mr. Sturgis did not know whether to - attempt
to seek approval of an entire subdivision plan (Land Court
Plan #25384A) or simply to attempt to make Lot #22 a
salable lot, , It was suggested by the board to Mr. Sturgis
that -previously he had come before the board with the same
preliminary plan and it was indicated that a cul de sac
should be constructed in the Lot 22 area. Mr . Sturgis in-
dicated that he did not want to incur expenses for paving
without first a sense . from the board- whether or not
his subdivision. plan might be approved. It was suggested
by the board that Mr. Sturgis - would have to pave Sturgis
Lane so that the lots that front Sturgis Lane could be
sold. It was further suggested by the board to Mr. Sturgis
that there might be a possibility that a bond be put up
so that development could be facilitated. It was suggested
by the board that it would be much easier for Mr. Sturgis
to try to sell Lot 22 alone without attempting to have
his preliminary plan altered so that it might conform to
the zoning by-laws of the Town of Mashpee. It was further
suggested to Mr. Sturgis that if he were to retain owner-
ship of the lots other than Lot 22 , that the other lots
would increase in value over time. Mr-. Philip Holmes ,
along with the board, suggested that the contour of Lot 22
be changed to conform to the 1501 frontage required under
the Zoning By-Law. A line was drawn on the preliminary
plan showing Lot 22 to restructure Lot 22 to give it the
proper frontage . Consequently, the board voted to approve
and did ,s inn with an appropriate amendment Lot 22 showing
a minimum of 15 0 r frontage. Mr. Whitney who was also
present at the meeting, agreed to see to it that Lot 2,2
be redone on the plan showing a minimum 150 ' frontage.
The Planning Board of the Town of Mashpee voted unanimously
to approve Lot 22, further indicating that the lot was
accepted as "Approval not required" . The board also
indicated to Mr. Sturgis that Form "All be submitted to
the board. A check for $20. 00 was submitted to the board
by Mr. Sturgis to cover costs.
On a motion by Richardson Jonas and seconded by Richard.
Terry, Earle Marsters was voted as Chairman as Selectmen
for an additional year.
On motion made by Richardson Jonas and seconded by Donald
Blakeman, Richard Terry was voted as vice-chairman of
the Board of Selectmen.
