The need to split the
main meeting room of the Town Hall into two is needed to ensure that the Boards, Committees and
Commissions have sufficient meeting room space. The Department of Public Works brought in a contractor
to evaluate the situation. The contractor informed the Town that it would cost $9,100 to repair the doors
but there would be no guarantee that the repairs would last even a year. A quote was given of$62,700 to
completely replace the doors and with improved mechanicals and soundproofing.
The Town Manager strongly recommended that because a repair comes with no guarantees and is just a
"band-aid" that the Committee consider voting in favor of a total replacement with the funds proposed to
be coming from the Finance Committee Reserve Fund (to be voted upon at the Finance Committee
meeting later today, May 19, 2022).
