retired from the Mashpee Library. One of her arguments was nobody would stay 30 years at a <br /> Step 2 position. Tuition reimbursement was implemented and they have two employees who <br /> are pursuing graduate degrees right now. They will get two weeks' vacation upon start date. <br /> There are a lot of nice things that came with the contract. Library Director and the Assistant <br /> Director are no longer in a union. They are moving to the Personal Administration Plan. <br /> The library is very busy with various things going on while being short staffed. They are <br /> booking free lunches for summer. Ms. Mahoney will be looking for volunteers. It started with <br /> Mashpee Schools then we worked with the local Barnstable Church and now we are joining <br /> YMCA and Project Bread. Mahoney offered to host a training session on Tuesday, June 6t" in <br /> the Event Room from 9a-11a. Madison Riley is the person of contact, she started in the fall <br /> and is very enthusiastic. Ms. Riley would like to hold a kickoff event on June 301h on the green <br /> across the street. She will try and bring hot food and get some entertainment. They will ask if <br /> the Fire and Police could provide some trucks and also get the Tribe involved. The lunches will <br /> start being distributed at the library on Monday, June 26t" and every Monday, Wednesday, and <br /> Friday thereafter. <br /> The library has been invited to host a table at the Race Amity Day on Sunday, June 11tn <br /> Mashpee Night Out is August 2nd and the library has been invited to go to the Fire and Police <br /> Station that evening. Ms. Mahoney will use money from the donation account to pay for a face <br /> painter or balloon artist. Last year they donated the Italian ice truck. The past few years have <br /> been canceled due to weather. <br /> Sunday, May 21St is this years' Who We Are immigration project that will be held from 7p-8p <br /> and will remain on display in the Conference Room. <br /> The election went well. The Clerk's office came and were happy about the set up. Captain <br /> Rose did the traffic detail. The main building was closed at 5p.m. and people were directed to <br /> the side entrance. The library was the single busiest place for voters. 15 new library cards from <br /> residents who were here voting. <br /> Ms. Smith noted the budget increases due to three police details at the polls. <br /> Ms. Mahoney commented that the National Election will be on a Tuesday. There will be four <br /> elections next year. She will have to figure out the before and after, and get DPW to come <br /> remove the materials. <br /> There was a Department Head meeting the following Wednesday after Town Meeting and the <br /> Town Manager brought up doing a five year plan for staffing and capital projects, not a wish <br /> list, but looking at needs. The Strategic Plan doesn't talk dollars, but we are looking more into <br /> building maintenance. What is getting to the end of its life? The Friends are paying to replace <br /> carpeting in the Children's Room. <br /> 2 <br />
