qfMashpce <br /> 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, MA 02649 <br /> MA.SHP E HISTORICAL + 'OMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting -- June 8, 202 <br /> Mashpee Historical Commission Meeting was called to order by Aa Costello at <br /> 4:11 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello„ Brian Hyde, Richard DeSorgher, Nancy <br /> Soderberg; Rosemary Burns Love and Joan Tavares-Avant telephoned in, We had two <br /> guests from the Tribe, Shirley High Rock, Bel CI'an Mother* and Angry Peters. Also <br /> attending was Alex Mergerle from the Mlashpee Enterprise. <br /> Schoolhouse Tours and Repairs <br /> Nancy Soderberg reported that six tours by the Quashnet School 3rd graders had been <br /> completed. These were combined with a tour of the Indian Museum. Luring the summer <br /> months, starting on July 1st, Richard, Nancy, and Pedro will be offering tours on Mondays <br /> from 11:00am- :00pm, and they have decided to add tours on Saturdays as well. <br /> Richard reported that the Mashpee DPW had replaced one of the two windows that <br /> need replacing. He plans to present Certificates of Appreciation to the Teacher, Mark <br /> Rosbach, and three MMSH students, Brycen l=eren„ Tevin Mattis, and Andrew <br /> Weiner.who completed the building of the woodshed thiis past spring attached to the left <br /> side of the schoolhouse. The DPW had previously put in a foundation and new shrubs. <br /> Mashpee River Signs <br /> Richard reported that he had several meetings with Town officials and with Signarama of <br /> South Yarmouth, and then he had the signs for the Mashpee River made up. They will <br /> be installed on Great Neck Road North and Main Street (Route 130), with the approval of <br /> the Conservation Commission.. <br /> Ancient Burial Grounds Restoration Project and Official Names <br /> We are working with the Catherine Laurent and the DPW to re-fence and clean up four <br /> sites designated as Ancient Burial Grounds in Mashpee. Restoration work has already <br /> been completed on the Lakewood Cemetery, but will be beginning on three others. On <br /> June 1st the CPC recommended funding in the amount $73,000 to complete the work on: <br /> the Attaquin Cemetery off Main Street„ Route 130 <br /> the Pocknett Cemetery off Meetinghouse Road, and <br /> the Avant Cemetery„ located near the former Plaza Del Sol Motel, Main Street, Route 130 <br /> the Lakewood Cemetery. off Maple Street, would be renamed the Bourne Ancient Burial <br /> Ground <br /> ✓��ak& <br /> r <br />
