<br /> <br />MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />June 21, 2023 7:00 P.M. <br />Popponesset Meeting Room <br />PRESENT: Chair, Virginia Scharfenberg, Sheryl Carberry, Frank Gallello, Lynn Harris, Kirsten Nordstrom <br />ABSENT: N/A <br /> <br />OTHER ATTENDEES: John Carter <br /> Chantal Harris <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER: Chair Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. <br /> <br />Meeting Minutes for May 17, 2023. <br />Sheryl Carberry made a motion to accept the minutes of May 17, 2023 as written. <br />Lynn Harris seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed by unanimous consent. <br />COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE: <br />None at this time. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />REPORTS: <br /> <br /> Gardeners Gathering June 10, 2023. <br />It was reported that the gathering had a great turn out with many new gardeners in attendance. Chair <br />Scharfenberg stated that she’d like to plan the gatherings monthly. <br /> <br /> Updated 2023 Gardener Plot Assignments, including Waitlist – Sheryl Carberry. <br />Sheryl stated that all the plots have been assigned and there is currently no waitlist for the 2023 season. <br /> <br /> Garden Maintenance and Clean-up Summer Schedule – Virginia Scharfenberg. <br />Chair Scharfenberg said that the garden looks fine at the moment, aside from the native bed needing <br />to be weeded. The Committee agreed to scheduling a garden maintenance day on the second Saturday <br />of each month. The next one will be July 8, 2023. <br />One of the gardeners, Polly Minugh, has offered to keep track of volunteer hours again. <br />It was stated that there will soon be a need for volunteers to water the native garden bed. The garden <br />requires approximately one inch of water per week and a system will need to be implemented to avoid <br />overwatering. <br />It was reported that the shed has been cleaned out and a request has been made for 14 additional <br />cubbies to be installed. Mr. Gallello stated that he saw evidence of mice while cleaning out the shed <br />and Chair Scharfenberg stated that she will inquire with DPW in regard to mouse control protocols. <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
