t <br /> 2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 3, 200 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Council on Aaipk Director—Tax Abatement Pro arn: <br /> Janes Long, Council on Aging Director was present to request the <br /> Selectmen continue to support the To n's real estate tax abatement <br /> program which rewards seniors who devote a specific number of volunteer <br /> hours in providing many needed Town services. <br /> Correspondence was received from the Council on Aging dated November <br /> 19, 2004 recon xending approval. The Selectmen were requested t <br /> increase the abatement by at least $100, from to $600. It was noted <br /> that the Town adopted statute allows a maximum of$750 per abatement. <br /> Twenty-eight out of thirty seniors participated in the program last year. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to approve the Tax Abatement <br /> Program for senior's with an increase of 1 oo as requested. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -0. <br /> Council on A 1ng—.Fundraising_�J�T <br /> Correspondence was received from the Friends of the Mashpee Senior <br /> Center dated November 14, 2004 relative to a pledge received from the <br /> Mashpee Women's Club. The Selectmen were requested to accept the <br /> pledge of$10,000, and approve the naming rights to the lounge in the new <br /> Senior Center after the Women"s Club. The offer would be acknowledged <br /> with a plaque. <br /> Notion made by Selectman Myers to accept the pledge of the <br /> Mashpee Women's Club in the amount o $10,000,and approve the <br /> naming rights of the lounge at the Mashpee Senior Center after the <br /> Mashpee 'omen's Club. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -o. <br />
