12 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 14, 2023 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Interview Candidates for At-lame Membershi Possible Recommendation to, SelectvBoardfor <br /> Appointment:..__..........................._. <br /> Karen Yetra: (continued) <br /> When asked of the CPC and its funding areas,Ms. Yetra indicated that balance is important. <br /> There is a need to preserve historic,there is a need for affordable housing, open space and <br /> recreation noting the high importance of pickleball and the MM/MHS track and field project. <br /> Ms. Yetra having impressive skills indicated she is a good analyst, a good listener, and a problem <br /> solver,etc. When asked of her work with Habitat Ms. Yetra indicated she does what is needed in <br /> the volunteer position, this includes construction. The Cape Kids Meals program is a non-profit <br /> which began in the Mashpee School system that benefits students without lunches. The program <br /> has grown substantially now serving 37 school systems weekly. Over 900 students on the Cape <br /> need lunches. The number of children participating previously was 600. With the pandemic and <br /> increase in seasonal workers,the need jumped to 900. <br /> When asked of her passion when it relates to the four funded CPC categories,Ms. Yetra <br /> indicated that affordable housing is appealing,but she is happy to serve in support of any of <br /> those capacities. In her opinion,the 2% surcharge should remain at 2% until she sees the level of <br /> need. <br /> As a volunteer in the Town of Medfield,Ms. Yetra volunteered in any classroom or with funding <br /> as needed. Ms. Yetra served as President of the Educational Foundation raising $300,000 in <br /> grant funding. As a good listener with presence Ms. Yetra indicated that it is important to <br /> balance open space, recreation, historic and affordable housing needs, and to be respectful of the <br /> applications as they come forward. <br /> Ms. Yetra is available to attend the regular meetings of the CPC. <br />
