CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: That is an interesting turn of events. Honestly, if that is the route they want to
go I think that is the best resolution we could hope for.
Mr. Harrington: At least they're still talking de-nite and not fighting us and saying they're go back to DEP
and take their chances. Of course money is going to be the issue.
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: Ok,there are a number of technologies they can look at,so they have some
options if it turns out that the Singulair is too expensive for what they're looking for. I think that's a
good if he's willing to go that route.
Mr. Harrington: You know that Winston Stedman is the local rep for Singulair. I think where he is their
subject matter expert, he's putting that forth. If you want to throw out, as a carrot, a cheaper system, if
the board is willing to look at different systems to be amenable to bring that cost down a little bit.
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: I would hesitate, myself,to recommend a specific system or anything like that,
but I would certainly hope that they would avail themselves to some of the other options that are out.
Mr. Harrington: We can certainly acknowledge that Singulair is a good system and support it but also
acknowledge that there are possibly cheaper alternatives out there. If the Singulair is the only system
that they're looking at and then he decides not to do it then the story kind of ends there. I think
because there are options out there that may be cheaper and may do some de-nitrification at the level
that we're looking for,we should at least tell him that we're not against looking at some other models.
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: I would agree with that. Do we need a vote to support an amended plan or is
there no action for us to take at this time.
Mr. Harrington: I would make a vote to show that you're making a decision and not leaving it open.
Counsel is looking for guidance from us on how to proceed and I think a vote will show our best motion
forward.
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: Do you agree Kripani?
Ms. Patel: Yea, it sounds pretty reasonable and we're moving forward in a direction that we weren't
before. I'm good with it.
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: it could be:the motion to support the modification of the design plan at 100
Great Neck Road North to reduce the design flow to meet 10,000 gallons per day and employ alternative
treatment technologies with the intent of nitrogen reduction. I will leave it open ended on what
technologies available, and Glen, you can express some of the different options that are there to them.
GH: Just on the use of alternative nitrogen removal system, did you say more affordable?
CHAIR BAUMGAERTEL: I left it open ended that we would support any technology that they could
identify, it wouldn't necessarily have to be Singulair.
Kripani Patel made a motion so moved. Motioned seconded by Brian Baumgaertel. Roll call vote to
accept the motion. Brian Baumgaertel (yes) Kripani Patel (yes) VOTE: Unanimous (2-0)
