The site involves a 16-acre cranberry bog and the project is currently at
the 50% design phase. CPC funding is being used for the planning and permitting phases.
Funding has been secured from the Air Force Civil Engineering Center and it is hopeful
additional grant funds would be received from NOAH for the next phase. Construction work is
anticipated to begin in two years.
In other business Mr. McManus indicated the Wetland Restoration of Abandoned Cranberry Bog
project approved for$23,500 at the May 2020 Town Meeting does not have adequate funds to
conduct the wetland restoration project in the Santuit Pond preserve. Mr. McManus requested
the Community Preservation Committee return the funds to the CPC coffers.
Additional funding is necessary to conduct required improvements to the Chopchaque Bog
project approved by the CPC in May of 2020. The 13.98-acre bog and surrounding upland
properties was purchased for freshwater restoration to capture phosphorus within Santuit Pond
and to mitigate nitrogen in the groundwater to diminish loading in Shoestring Bay. It is
anticipated that an application for CPA funding would be presented to the CPC to assist in
requirements for this endeavor.
MINUTES
T ursdaL November92023, a ar Session:
. ,_
Motion made to Ms. Barbee to approve the minutes of Thursday; November 9,2023 as
presented.
Motion seconded by Ms. Wyman-Colombo.
VOTE: 5-0-2.Unanimous.
Roll Call Vote:
Ms. Russell, yes Mr.Hyde, abstained Ms.Waygan, yes Ms. Barbee, yes
Ms. Klein,yes Ms.Wyman-Colombo, abstained Ms. Godfrey,yes Opposed,none
