Finance Committee
Minutes
February 1, 2024

ADDITIONAL TOPICS
Patty Deboer asked if there were any questions regarding the school’s budget. She said that she appreciates the
chain of command through the Town Manager but, that it’s also helpful to contact the School Department
directly with any questions.
Ms. Deboer went on to state the she believes there are either 11 or 13 Towns that are a part of Cape Cod Tech
and that she has found that their budget is not scrutinized and they are never asked to cut. She said that she
has great respect for their Superintendent and has watched him present with little to no questions being asked.
She said that she believes that the Finance Committees that are involved from those 11 or 13 Towns really look
at Cape Cod Tech’s budget.
Ms. Deboer directed the Committee to page 55 of the school budget. She stated that it appears as though she
has a 10.8% salary increase. She said that if they were to look at the 2023 actuals and the 2024 budget, the
numbers are static. Also, in the 2024 revised budget it indicates the figure of $93,295 includes a lot of
unknowns in Unit A contracts as it is prepared well in advance due to deadlines. FY25 represents monies into
various people.
She stated that in FY20 her increase was 2 ½%, in FY21 it was 2%, FY22 2.25%, FY23 3% and FY24 it was 5%
based on the School Committee giving her an exemplary rating for the first time.
It was explained that the 10.8% increase is a placeholder for unknown contract negotiation settlements and that
the actuals will be able to be seen at the end of FY24.

NEXT MEETING
Thursday, February 15, 2024
6:30pm
Waquoit Meeting Room

ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Mr. Weiner to adjourn.
Motion seconded by Mr. McKelvey.
Motion passed by unanimous consent.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Donovan
Board Secretary
4
