Finance Committee <br />Minutes <br />February 29, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2. Presentation and Discussion of School Budget. <br />Patricia Deboer gave a presentation on the school budget. <br />She stated that as of today they are requesting $25,134,353 as their FY25 appropriation from the Town. This <br />reflects a 3.2% increase over last year’s appropriation. It was stated that the total personnel budget for FY25 is <br />$20,459,084. Overall this is a 3.58% increase. <br /> <br />3. Review and Discuss the Town Manager’s Recommendations for the FY25 Mashpee Town Operating <br />Budget. <br />This item is covered under item #1. <br /> <br />4. Begin Review and Discussion of Articles in Draft #2 of the Town Meeting Warrant. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mr. Kelvey to allow the public to speak on Town Warrant Articles. <br />Motion seconded by Darlene Furbush. <br />Motion passed by unanimous consent. <br /> <br />Darien Homer spoke to the Committee regarding Article 28 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant. <br />He stated that he wanted to be sure the Committee is clear about the road taking and the information that was <br />presented to them at the last Finance Committee meeting. <br />Mr. Homer was asked what other costs the Town will have to take on with this road taking. Mr. Homer stated <br />that it will cost nothing for the first 15 years. <br /> <br />Mary Waygan stated that she thinks it’s a good idea to allow members of the public to speak on the Warrant <br />however, she wished that she had a copy of the Warrant to refer to and that it should have been included in the <br />packet. <br /> <br />Ashley Lopes gave the Committee an explanation of Article #27 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Darlene Furbush to Recommend Article #1 of Draft #2 of the Special Town Meeting <br />Warrant. <br />Motion seconded by Lee Smith. <br /> <br />VOTE: Passed 7-0-0 <br /> <br />Roll Call Vote: <br /> <br />Mr. Pettengill, yes Mr. McKelvey, yes Mrs. Furbush, yes Jamie Schuh, yes <br />Lee Smith, yes, Glenn Thompson, yes Mr. Weiner, yes <br />Opposed, none <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
