<br />Finance Committee <br />Minutes <br />March 7, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />Present: Chair, Jeffrey Pettengill, Vice-Chair, Darlene Furbush, Clerk, Lee Smith, Greg McKelvey, <br />Glenn Thompson, Richard Weiner <br /> <br />Attendees: Town Manager, Rodney Collins <br /> DPW Director, Catherine Larent <br /> Wastewater Superintendent, Jared Meader <br /> Town Moderator, John Miller <br /> Arden Russell, Chair, Community Preservation Committee <br /> Finance Director, Dawn Thayer <br /> <br />Absent: Jamie Schuh <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Meeting called to order in open session by Chair Pettengill in the Waquoit Meeting Room, Mashpee Town Hall, <br />16 Great Neck Road North, Mashpee, MA at 6:30pm. <br /> <br />PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />MOMENT OF SILENCE <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />None at this Time. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />Discussion and approval of Thursday, February 29, 2024 Finance Committee meeting minutes. <br />A motion was made by Darlene Furbush to approve the minutes of the February 29, 2024 Finance Committee <br />meeting. <br />Motion seconded by Lee Smith. <br />Motion passed by Unanimous Consent. <br /> <br />APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br />N/A <br />COMMUNICATIONS & CORRESPONDENCE <br />N/A <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Presentation of Additional Information Regarding Special and Annual Town Meeting Warrant Articles on <br />Hold. <br />Dawn Thayer explained Article #4 to the Committee. <br />Dawn stated that this Article pertains to the Human Resources Accrued Benefits Account. The current balance <br />in the account is $66,016. This account is a carryover account from year to year, that funds accrued benefits for <br />retirees. It was explained that when an individual retires and they are entitled to vacation or sick by back the <br />funds come out of this account. Ms. Thayer stated that the funds being requested are to plan on upcoming <br />retirements and to prepare to have a remaining balance in the account. <br />Ms. Thayer went on to explain Articles #5 and #6 stating that back in October there was a plan to have an Article <br />and a Ballot Question to fund Phase 2 of the Wastewater Initiatives.
