Construction Update with Interim Town Engineer, Ray Jack.

Mr. Jack stated that there are 3 active contracts.

Contract 1 is The Water Resource Recovery Facility which is being constructed at the existing transfer station.
Contract 2 is the Northern segment of the collection system above Route 28.
Contract 3 is the Southern collection system which is South of Route 28.

For the month of October there was very little activity at the plant and at the collection systems. Construction
started in earnest in November.

Mr. Jack will be providing a cost update at the next Sewer Commission meeting which will consist of the
original contract value, the adjusted contract value (the original cost plus any change orders or additional
costs that may be incurred) and the actual payment value (what the contractor has received).

Work has been continuing on the main installation for the collection system North along Carleton Drive. It is
the deepest part of the main in that area. It was running in the 12 – 15’ range on the trenches. They are
presently doing the last leg of Carleton and they should be completed tomorrow. That’s roughly 2,000’ of
total trunk main installed since the project began. 8” main and services are complete on Swain Circle and the
main and services for Sea Oaks are scheduled to begin in early February.

Collection system South work began at the intersection of Mashpee Neck Road and Simon Narrows Road on
rd
January 3. The first manhole was installed at the intersection and the main installation is proceeding along
Simon Narrows Road. Installation will stop in the vicinity of Yardarm Drive which is the end point of the
contract. They will be starting work on Falmouth Road, hopefully in March, in order to take advantage of
seasonal restrictions. It is a State Highway with a limited timeframe and the Town must follow the State
Guidelines.

The site for the water resource recovery unit has been cleared and stumps have been removed. Materials
have been delivered to the site. The current work is focused on earth moving. Approximately, 8,000 cubic
yards of material has been moved off site. Excavation for the building and tank foundations will commence in
February. Concrete and underground pipework will continue through the summer months.

Meredith Harris inquired about a “field trip” by the Commission to the sites. Mr. Jack stated that there isn’t
anything to see at the plant site at the present time and he will be more than happy to start scheduling site
visits.

Correspondence:
None at this time.

Other items not reasonably anticipated by the Chair:
None at this time.

Next meeting:
January 26, 2023, 2:00PM
Mashpee Town Hall
Waquoit Meeting Room
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, MA
3
