Call Meeting to Order

Carol Sherman opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m.

2. Approval of 4/25/2023 minutes
Robyn requested a correction be made to the finance section–the amount in the checking
account was $22,400.48 not $22,448. Denise Dutson moved that the committee approve the
4/25/2023 minutes, Glenn Thompson seconded, the committee approved.

3. Finance Report: The EDIC has a balance of $305,351.82 in its money market account and
$22,400.48 in the checking account. Interest earned was $5.18.

4. Chair Report
Carol stepped down as the liaison to the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce; Michaela Columbo
is taking her place and has a monthly meeting set up with Julie.

Carol is part of the Charter review committee; one change that the town will no longer require a
member of the EDIC to be part of the hiring committee when the town needs to fill the Town
Manager position. This is because the Select Board is the body that works with the town
manager most closely.

Carol also discussed the warrant articles presented to the Select Board the night before
(including a new tree bylaw and two citizen petition articles from the Tribe). She urged all of the
EDIC members to attend Town Meeting in October.

New Business:
The EDIC discussed bringing in a business owner to talk about their business and their
experience to the committee each month. They also discussed sending a press release to the
Mashpee Enterprise to let businesses know that Mashpee is listening. Over the next four
meetings, the committee agreed to invite the owners of Solar Rising, the Community Health
Center, Wendy’s and Cape Wide to come to a meeting.

Questions the committee will ask each person:

What was your biggest obstacle?
Tell us your story–how did you get started?
